So you notice I am 4-5 days late in recognizing the new year. Today is the new year for me- I have finally come out of a deep hibernation and been out of bed for almost the whole day! Wow! I had to rest several times, but I stayed on the couch so I wouldn't feel "as sick" as being in bed. My fever is finally gone hopefully to NEVER return! I still have a lingering headache and nasty cough- which when I cough, I cough so hard that it makes my head hurt. But give me those anyday over that high fever. I was a wreck. So glad that that is behind me. Even though it wasn't diagnosed as the flu, I will be getting flu shot every year for the rest of my life. Never do I want to go through that again.
On to regular stuff... we obviously did not go to Great Wolf Lodge. :-( Lucky for me, I really never told the kids about it. Lynette laughed at me because she was asking Cobe what he was doing New Year's Eve, and he didn't know. And where he was going this week on a trip, and he didn't know. She said, "You don't tell your kids anything, do you?" Pretty much that is how I work. I inform Ryan and the kids right before what the plan is (I usually inform Ryan way ahead, but he forgets, so I re-inform him). (Right honey????) Don't ask me why, but this time, it worked in my favor. Then they weren't disappointed. They knew they were going to GWL, but didn't really know when obviously b/c neither one of them has mentioned it. Nor did they have a clue what it was, so they never put much thought into it I don't think. But surprise! We rescheduled it for Jan. 26th, so we still have it to look forward to. I most likely will tell them Jan. 25th in case someone else gets sick. :-)
Cobe's soccer season starts up again in the morning. Oh yeah- a slew of 9:00 Saturday morning games. Not something I am looking forward to. Mary Jo and Jim have offered to take Cobe and Brooks in the morning to the game then out to breakfast which I appreciate sooooo much. I hate to miss this game because it is the only team that they have lost to, but maybe I was bad luck and they'll win with me not there. Isn't that how it always works? He'll score the game-winning goal or something because neither Ryan or I will be there to see it. Let's hope! I just don't feel that I should go quite yet and cough on all the people in the bleachers.
Lisa took the kids ALL day for me today. What would I do without her you ask? I don't ever want to find out! She picked them up around 9:30 and hand-delivered them back to my doorstep after 5:00. It was so nice to feel better and be able to knock out a few light things like paying bills, opening mail, organizing a few odds and ends, etc. I didn't tackle any cleaning which I needed to, but I didn't want to wear myself out. I actually showered AND put on make-up. Make-up hadn't graced my face since Saturday! The kids had a blast at Lisa's- they hadn't seen each other in 2 weeks since we had been gone week 1, so there were some happy kids to see each other. I think Sadie wanted to stay at Lisa's (Spotty's). I offered, but Lisa didn't bite. Haha Thanks a TON Lisa for taking care of my kids all day!!!!!
We actually sat down as a family to eat tonight as well. No, I can't take credit for cooking. Mary Jo brought over a delicious spaghetti casserole last night for us, and we were at the Dr. through dinner, so I saved it for tonight. Yum, yum! That was the first real food I had eaten in 2 straight days. I had eaten maybe 1 meal a day on the 2 previous days. So I know what you are thinking.... I am losing weight. WHY NOT I ASK?????? I only had lost 2 pounds when they weighed me at the Dr. last night. How does that work? I cannot for the life of me figure out how a person basically doesn't eat for 5 days, and loses 2 pounds. My body must like itself just the way it is. Great! Yippee! WooHoo! Oh well... at least I don't have much of an appetite still, so maybe it will all of a sudden just fall off. Don't hold your breath.
Well, that wonderful cough medicine is starting to kick-in. So I may just go snuggle up in my clean sheets. G'night!

I am so glad that you are feeling better! We get the flu shot every year pretty much because John is so picky about that. The kids get it also. I have to say I'm glad because I don't want to go through what you did! I bet you'll be tired and easily worn out for quite a while! You'll have to take it easy. As for the weight thing, I lost 8 pounds during my puky sickness. I think that's what you need to get to really lose weight. I never lose weight during a cold or anything! But of course i've already gained five of it back!
