Day 5 of Sickness

This is getting ridiculous! My fever as of this afternoon was still 104 degrees. I haven't been this sick in quite awhile. I felt sure that it was the flu, but I went to the doctor today, and they now have this really pleasant influenza test (they jam a 8 inch swab up your nose), and that came back negative. The doctor was surprised as well- she said I am displaying classic flu symptoms. So they took chest x-rays and did blood cultures and other blood tests. Everything came back normal. She gave me a Z-Pac anyway and said she was going to call it the early stages of pneumonia or bronchitis. I hope it helps. I took 2 of the pills tonight so hopefully that will jump-start the healing process. I haven't been sleeping well at night at all, so she gave me cough medicine with something in it to help me sleep. As I type this, I can already feel it working. So if this doesn't make sense, you know why!

Ryan took our van in today because the brakes were grinding on the way home from NC and the check engine light came on. It is going to cost $1,260 to get everything fixed! They said the catilytic (sp?) converter needs to be replaced as well as the brakes. Nice! We are going to go ahead and get the brakes replaced, but he said the cat. converter could wait. So it will.

My three kids have been so wonderful not having a mom for 4 straight days. I literally haven't left the bed at all on some days, and the other ones have been up for an hour or so max. They have enjoyed playing together and making up games. Ryan was gone for a few hours today, and they seemed to enjoy having complete and free reign over the house. I had no energy to even get involved, so who knows what they were up to. They have been so great about being good because they know I'm sick. Our house is trashed, but it will be worth it to clean it when I'm better or for Ryan to clean one night, just knowing that they still had fun being kids while I was in bed. Okay, this is starting to sound like a Hallmark commercial or something, so I am going to stop- el druggos must be kicking in!

I'm glad you got something to sleep! I'm giggling thinking of your three kiddo's running the house by themselves! I'm sure they had a ball with that! I'd say it's time for that new car you've been looking into... sounds like a hefty bill! YUCK!

I hope you get better soon. When I was sick my kids also had the run of the house also and it was trashed. It took a good three hours to clean up, but at least they let me sleep! And it's better for you to sleep right now! I hope the drugs work!

Does sound like fun with no mommy around - not that you aren't fun but for kids... how cool! Not cool, however, that you aren't feeling very well.
Ugh! on the van situation. I hate paying for vehicle stuff!
