A Disasterous Night

Oh where to begin... we actually had a great, fun, yummy dinner at Logan's. Well worth the $20 to feed the entire family. We saw lots of people we knew and it was busy, so everyone must appreciate the Mon.-Tues. night deal they have going on. I hope that lasts all winter- it could become a Tuesday night ritual for us. We came home and the boys immediately went next door b/c Jake and Ella were outside golfing with Jason. This is where disaster struck. I HATE it when my kid causes the accident. I can deal a lot better for some reason when someone else's kid causes the accident to my kid. Accidents happen, right? I know that, but you still feel horrible when your kid hurts someone else's. Brooks was swinging the club to hit the ball, and hit Ella smack in the back of the head. Long story short, Ryan drove Jason and Ella to the emergency room and she ended up with staples in her head. Julie was at a church meeting, so Jake stayed with us at our house. Ella was EXTREMELY brave they all said, but still.... I feel like a heel. Julie and Jason are SUCH great friends and they handle stuff like this so well, but still.... I feel so bad for Ella Pearl. Jason was just as worried about Brooks thinking he was mad at him as he was his own daughter's safety. Brooks seemed to be in a fog about the whole thing. He cried right at first and said, "I said I'm sorry mom." Then he just seemed dazed. They came over when they got home from the hospital to get Jake and so the boys could see that Ella was fine. She is one brave little girl. I guess it could have been a lot worse, but still... it was bad enough. We sat and counted up how many times we have been there when the Onstott kids have had to go to the hospital... Ryan drove Jake to the emergency room in NC when they vacationed with us b/c he had a seizure, Jake broke his arm when a babysitter was there, so Ryan and I went over to call Julie/Jason home and we kept Ella that night, and Jake has also had staples in his head (can't remember if we kept Ella then or not). Anyway, they have gotten a speedpass to the local emergency room. Let's hope they are done with accidents! (especially caused by one of mine). I praise God that Ella is okay and that God blesses us daily. Don't forget to tell your loved ones when you read this how much you do love them. Accidents make you think...

Oh no - what a bummer. So hard for the kid that hurts the other too - b/c I am sure he felt as much of a heel or more than you did - poor guy. Poor Ella. Ouch! Glad all is well and hopefully that is the last of accidents for the Onstotts for SURE. Yikes.

Looked for you at Logans last night... but we went with the "Early Bird" dinner at 4:30 (in order to make it to football somewhat on time), so obviously didn't see you! I'm glad everyone is ok, I agree I would rather my child not be the one causing the pain, I always feel guilty, but ACCIDENTS do happen, nothing we can do about that!
