We had a pretty good weekend. Just the right balance of activity and down time. Friday night Ryan had to go to the funeral home for a friend of his at work whose mom died, so the Medendorps came over and hung out with us. The kids were wild and Lisa and I sat and talked in between trying to keep the kids semi-under control. Not really, they were all pretty good. They stayed until almost 11:00, so it was a late night for the kids. Saturday morning we went to Cobe's soccer game (they won 3-0 and Cobe scored a goal), and then Braelyn and Selah came home from the game with us to play. Cobe went home with Jaxson Bedolla and spent the night so we didn't see him again until church this morning. Brooks and Sadie played with their cousins; I fed them lunch, and then ran them back home b/c I was going to Amanda's for some craft time with a few girls. Can't say too much about it b/c they are for Christmas presents. Lynette and I stayed there from 1-3 and then headed back home. Ryan, Brooks and Sadie and I left and went to look for a new van. What I discovered is that I may not get a van this time. Still way up in the air, but a lot of the new 2008's didn't have bucket seats in the second row- the whole reason I love my van. It provides so much mobility between the front and back. I couldn't imagine driving to NC without being able to climb back and forth easily between the seats. BUT, several SUV's now make the 2nd row bucket seats, and the third a bench seat. It may make more sense for me to get one of those. We still aren't ready to do anything yet, so I guess we'll have to look around some more and test drive a few vehicles to see if I want a van or SUV this time.
We picked up pizza at Fricano's, ate at home, gave the younger 2 baths and they were in bed pretty early. We started loading songs on the boys' IPods, so they would be ready to go when they got them for Christmas. Then we watched another EXCELLENT movie- Pursuit of Happyness. I bawled quite a bit watching it, but I loved it. It is one of those movies that make you want to go out and change someone's life for the better. I am determined to find someone to help that is in a bad situation. As blessed as we are, it is the least we could do. So in the next few weeks... that will be my search. Someone already suggested a family that I might could contact to help that is down on their luck.
Today was Sunday School, church, lunch at Ryan's mom's and then home for a Christmas get together with the Boeves. Every year our 2 families get together to have appetizers and exchange gifts, and we do try to do it early to give the kids one gift to open. We always have yummy food. Tonight was no exception- I am stuffed! Thanks Lisa for all the delicious food you brought and the great gifts! (Maybe she'll comment again 2 times in a row if I put this here.)
Regular week ahead: BSF tomorrow night, a Lia Sophia party Tuesday night, church Wednesday night, nothing Thursday night. Friday night we are watching Jen's boys so they can go out to dinner and Sat. night, they are watching our kids so Ryan and I can go out to dinner for our anniversary. Tuesday, December 4th is our anniversary. We will have been married for 9 years! Hard to believe it has been that long! But I can definitely say the past year has been the best so far so I look forward to many more happy years together.
Hope everyone reading has a great week- hope the snow stays away from us for a little longer- our bout of it last night made me realize that I am NOT ready for slippery roads, whipping wind, ice and whatever winter in Michigan may bring. I did see somewhere that it is supposed to be a warmer winter this year, but more snow. Seems like an oxymoron to me, so we'll see. Ta ta!

I forgot about Fricano's... maybe we'll do that next weekend! Sounds like a fun time with friends today... food is always a good bonus, especially GOOD food! Nine years... we're almost there ourselves... goes so fast though, it doesn't feel like that long...most of the time anyway!
It was a fun get together. Great food and great friends. And my girls have been obsessed with their gifts. Thanks for having us.
