Cobe's Camp Performance

A mama's proud moment- my son had to speak in front of the whole camp! It was just his group that had to speak (he and the other 6 boys had to say their name, their favorite camp activity from the week and what they learned about God). Cobe had not told me that he was going to speak so I was so surprised. He was nervous, but he did well! He said his favorite thing was 4-Square and he learned that God looks at the inside not the outside.

Cobe had a blast at camp Geneva this week. He learned a lot and liked all the activities- especially 4-square, swimming and dodge ball. Brooks already wants to go! :-)

Kristen's daughter Presley came over today to play. The girls (and Brooks) had so much fun. We played at home for awhile, then headed to Helder Park. At home, the girls played with dolls and girly things like purses and phones. After the park, we came home for lunch, and the girls (and Brooks) were entertained for a long time with having a tea party. Brooks kept getting them water in all the cups, so they kept calling it juice. They spilled more than they drank, but had fun doing it. Brooks was smitten with Presley! Sadie plays with kids often, but none are her age, so I think she had to stake her territory first before playing. I was impressed at how well they played together- Sadie is usually a brut, but only terrorized Presley a few times by stealing her "peep." We are off to Cobe's camp performance now and then off to Crestview for a party. I'll post pics later of Cobe's camp show.

Fun Night Out

We had so much fun last night at Boatwerks. It was very yummy and we stayed after dinner and had a few drinks/picture sessions out near the water. I forgot my camera, but my SIL Jen and MIL both took theirs, so I hope to get some copies of good pictures from the night. I got the Seafood Linguini and it was delicious- shrimp, scallops, and mussels in a goat cheese sauce. Very good!

Yesterday morning after dropping Cobe off at the bus stop for camp, Lisa, Lynette and I met at the bakery. We were going to walk, but it was pouring so we couldn't. So I came home and Ryan and I went to the Grandville mall. Lynette had told me Children's Place jeans were on sale for $9.99 so I tried to get in on the deal. Go figure- the deal had ended Sunday. I still ended up getting Brooks 2 pairs and Cobe 2 pairs since I was there, but paid more than $9.99!!!!! They each got a shirt as well, and Sadie got 2 pairs of tights, 3 shirts and a pair of yoga pants. Amazing how she makes out when she needs ABSOLUTELY nothing!!!!!!!! I somehow can't seem to pass up the cute girl stuff. Oh well- it was all on sale. Cobe needs to try on all his stuff- he seems to still be in size 6 in most things, and I got him size 7 jeans, so I am a little worried that I"ll be making a return trip for him. I still have to buy him size 5/6 shirts b/c he is so stinkin little.

The kids had fun at the Boeves last night while we went out. Cobe's tooth went through his lip and he has a big blood blister on it so you would have thought the world was ending the way he acted about it. He was over it this morning and geeked for camp again. He'll probably be tired though b/c he didn't hit the sack until about 10:30 last night.

We met Lynette and Lisa again this morning at the bakery, then got our walk in since the weather was nice. (No, I do NOT eat donuts when we go to the bakery for those of you who are thinking right now... why bother to walk when you eat donuts every morning! :-) ) I sometimes get a muffin- Zeeland Bakery's Nutty Bran Muffins are the BEST for those of you who have never had one!!! I hate nuts and I am not particularly fond of bran, but their muffins taste like peanut butter and are scrumptious! Anyway, after the walk, we put on our suits and hit Knollwood. It is a perfect morning- we come home for lunch and Sadie sleeps all afternoon. Can't beat that! Lynette got to see the side of Sadie this morning that is coming out more and more unfortunately- it isn't pretty! Screaming, hitting, being bossy and pretty much not listening to a thing I say. Joy joy! She is a real treat at 22 months- can't wait to hit the terrible two's!

We all decided that Saturday the plan for Ryan's family would be... breakfast at 9am, John Ball Park Zoo after that, home for naps, and out to the beach in the evening. Hope the weather cooperates for all of that. Ryan's parents are coming over tonight for salmon, salad, watermelon, rice and peach cobbler. I am going now to cut up the peaches- enjoy what's left of Wednesday!

Back Home

We are back home and had a very good trip. The trip home was a breeze- no traffic at all. We did hit a few spots where we had rain, but they all were short-lived. The kids were well-behaved too which helped. I posted lots of pics in the posts below so check them out!

Cobe had a BLAST at camp today. I picked him up at 5:00 from the bus and he said, "I want to go back right now to camp!" He talked the whole way home about how much fun he had- with swimming and playing 4-Square being the highlights of his day. He said, "We had to sing a lot too." He didn't seemed as thrilled with that part. :-) He is in a group with 7 other boys and he knew every single one of them from church, so he was excited about that as well. He had to take a swimming test, and he passed so he can swim wherever he wants and has a green wristband to show that he can, so he is all proud to wear it. They seem to have a really great swim area. He said Thursday they are going to the beach to swim, but all of the other days, they swim in a pool. I can't wait to go to his performance on Friday to see the camp. Seems sort of weird to send your child off for the week to a place I've never even seen!! Ryan went when he was a kid, so he is familiar with it, but not me.

Lisa and I walked this morning after dropping the kids off at church, then we came home and threw on our suits and headed to Knollwood. Ryan wouldn't even get in because he thought it was too cold. Sadie, Brooks and I had fun swimming though. It was extremely overcast, but very muggy and I was sweaty from walking, so I thought it was fun to swim. We only stayed about an hour. I ran to Meijer's when we got home and dropped $192 on groceries!!!!!! I cannot tell you when I have spent that much lately. I don't really feel like I have that much to show for it either, which is sad! The food better last for awhile. Ryan subbed for a friend in a golf league this afternoon and he is on his way home now. The boys are playing with Jake outside and Sadie and Ella are playing inside with me. They have all missed each other.

Tomorrow we are walking again in the morning with Lisa and Maya, and I am going to take Brooks with me. We are meeting Lynette and her kids at the bakery and we'll either walk before or after depending on when she gets there. I am tempted to hit the pool again after that if it is hot again. Not much else to do in this heat. Brooks wanted to ride his bike and I could hardly be outside to watch him- I was miserable!!!! Tomorrow night we are going to Boatwerks for Mary Jo's birthday. Just the adults- nice! Lisa is watching the kids and will bring them home and put them to bed if we are out late. Wed. night Ryan's parents are coming here for dinner for... you guessed it... salmon! :-) Ryan is going to grill when he gets home from work. Thursday night I am supposed to go to a friend's house for a jewelry party, then Friday night Ryan and I are going to a golf party. We golf from 6-8 then there's a band from 8-11. Should be a fun night!!! The kids are once again spending the night at the Boeves. Yay for best friends who watch our kids ALL the time!!!!!! Saturday we are supposed to do something with Ryan's whole family. Hopefully we'll decide what tomorrow night when we are all together. Sunday is Ryan's work party at Craig's Cruisers. The kids will love that!!!! Whew! I am tired thinking of all we have this week. The good thing though is that the days are pretty low-key so it still won't seem like we are too busy. Wednesday Lisa and I are taking Brooks, Sadie and Maya to Deanna's Playhouse. Lisa has been before, but I haven't so I thought I'd try that out while Cobe was gone since it is geared towards younger kids. So, there is our week in a nutshell! Cobe and Aliyah before their "show". They charged us each a dollar to attend. The show unfortunately was short-lived. One of the stars (Aliyah) was injured on the set, so they had to cancel. We did not get our money back.
