Okay- not a lot to write about these days. No new pics either. For some reason I feel like just a regular post is boring now if I don't include pictures. We had another house showing Monday. The people said our family room is too small. We still have one couple interested that is stripping wall paper, repainting and doing trim work before putting their house on the market, so even though it may be awhile, that might pan out- hope so! So at least our house is cleaner than ever... ALL THE TIME! The poor kids get all their toys put away and they don't always make their way back out.
Just a plug for a new craft that is so much fun for all you moms if you haven't discovered these yet. They are called Magic Nuudles and they are AWESOME! They are biodegradable building blocks that you barely have to get wet and they stick together. The boys love building things with them. Our next door neighbor Jake had some and gave a bag to Cobe for his birthday. They were building things tonight with them and even Ryan got into it and built a Dale Jr. car. They are made out of corn starch and come in a bag of different colors. I think my neighbor got them at Michael's if I remember correctly.
I called this TV Updates because I have been keeping up with Survivor (of course!), The Hills and American Idol. Pretty disappointed in The Hills- the characters are showing their age and making some pretty lousy decisions, but I am loving Survivor and American Idol. I thought the guys sang pretty well tonight and have some interesting life stories. I haven't gotten into anymore shows this season which is good. I actually have time to read, blog, email, do the daily cryptoquote, crossword and Sudoko puzzle in the paper, etc. :-) I forgot to ever share that the other surprise that Ryan gave me for Valentine's Day was a handheld electronic Sudoku game. He was pretty bummed that it didn't come before our trip b/c it would have been great to take on the plane. It came the day we left so I got it when we got home. I actually really haven't had the time to try it out, but it will be good for traveling. I'll take it Spring Break on our long car trip to NC.
This weekend we are watching the "Boeve girls" Friday night and having another slumber party so Lisa and Chad can go out to Boatwerks and to see a movie with the gift cards we gave them for watching Sadie. Then Sat. night we are going out to O'Charley's for Lisa's birthday for dinner. Something short and sweet b/c Ryan is working this weekend, but at least we'll have a good meal to celebrate Lisa's 31st birthday. I am looking forward to it. One of my students who lives right around the corner from us is babysitting. It is so nice when she sits for us because A) she lives so close and B) she has a little brother who is a good friend of Cobe's so she brings him along and Cobe loves that.
Next weekend we are hitting the town in GR for a night out with Bekins, Remicks, Holsteges and that crew. We are going to Kobe's Japanese Steakhouse in Grandville and then heading to downtown GR. We haven't done that in ages so it should be fun. Ryan's mom can b-sit that night so that is always an added bonus not to have to get a babysitter- Thanks MJ!!!!!!
I am hoping that the weather falls in place and that spring is right around the corner. I have always felt that March is when spring weather should start in Michigan b/c it does in NC, so I am always disappointed when it keeps snowing well into March. I am ready for capri pants and sandals!!!!!! At least Spring Break is less than a month away! I can handle that.
Ryan and I are planning a big trip over next Christmas if everything falls into place. Any hints on getting passports? I have heard to go to the courthouse and I have heard that you can go to the post office. I know it takes a couple of months, so I want to check into it soon so time doesn't get away from us. I know it is quite costly too, so that isn't something I am looking forward to. I think we are going to go to a travel agency soon and look at some options. Let me know if you have had good/bad experiences certain places and can give us suggestions. I have been to Hawaii and Aruba, but that is it. We are thinking somewhere in Mexico, Bahamas, or the Dominican right now.
Okay- time to head off to bed. This post turned out to be rather long since I rambled- sorry!

My little angel
We have had a quiet Sunday. The storm didn't amount to anything. I think it must have sleeted a little because I heard it during the night when I woke up, but it was just a little slush on the road. So we went to Sunday School and church. I teach Brooks' 3 year old Sunday School class and I love those little kids. It is so much fun to teach that innocent age- quite different from my usual teenage kids that I teach. We went to church and then came home and had a very quiet afternoon. We are showing our house tomorrow, so Ryan cleaned the bathrooms, vacuumed and spot cleaned the carpet. I napped. Oops! :-) I'll dust later and finish picking up all the toys and stashing them somewhere. We are back to our regular schedule this week- Bible study tomorrow night, nothing Tuesday, FW Friends Wednesday night, nothing Thursday, and then the weekend rolls around again. I can't believe it will be March in 4 days- time flies!
We have fun stuff coming up to look forward to- Spring Break we'll be heading to the lake for the week in NC- can't wait for a week of peace and quiet. I hope we have good weather. Then we have the Sawyer Brown concert later in April. That is always a fun night. I have planned out the summer with camps and lessons for the kids, as well as we'll have the pool in our new subdivision to go swimming in whenever we want. Hopefully a move will be in our future... but we don't know when. We'll head to NC at least twice during the summer- once in June for my cousin Elizabeth's wedding in Durham and then once in August. I can't wait for warm weather!!!!! Have a good week!

Brooks' Family Party
Pic 1= Brooks and his Dale Jr. cake. He LOVES Junior!!!!
Brooks got so many nice gifts. He got Cars sheets and a Cars towel, a laser/electronic shooting range, hockey sticks and pucks, a Power Rangers mask and watch, and lots of money. The kids had a great time playing together like usual. We missed Aunt Amanda, who was off with girlfriends scrapbooking, and Uncle Larry, who was off with friends in Illinois, but we had fun eating pizza and cake with the rest of the family.
We are supposed to get a huge winter storm tonight of sleet and freezing rain beginning at midnight. We'll see if it pans out or not. If we get what is expected, I am sure church will be canceled b/c it is supposed to be a mess. Have a good rest of the weekend.

Our Vacation
We are back safe and sound from our Disney Vacation. We had a great time. Day 1 we went to Animal Kingdom. The highlights from that park were the Safari ride and Climbing Mt. Everest. We had a character breakfast that morning with Mickey and the gang which was great too. That night we went to Epcot. We had dinner at Coral Reef restaurant which had a big tank you could watch while eating- sharks, sea turtles, rays and lots of fish. Day 2 we went to Epcot and Magic Kingdom. The highlight of Epcot and probably the boys favorite thing on the trip was the ride Soarin. Lots of fun!!!! They enjoyed a boat ride as well and Spaceship Earth, Finding Nemo, Honey I Shrunk the Audience, Test Track and a stroll through all of the countries. At Magic Kingdom that night we went on a Jungle Cruise, Aladdin's Magic Carpets, Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse ate at Peco Bill's. Day 3 we went back to Magic Kingdom and went through the whole park. The highlights were Buzz Lightyear, It's a Small World, Pirates of the Carribean, Winnie The Pooh, a train ride and the Indy Speedway. We all hated Stitch's Great Escape- it was lame. That night we went to Downtown Disney and went to a great restaurant called Capn' Jack's. Cobe was impressed with that restaurant b/c we all got lobster and he got to hold the tail. We went to Lego Land and saw a huge Lego T-Rex, shark, transformer, and other life-size Lego creations. We also went to the world's largest Disney store. And Day 4 was spent with the morning swimming at the hotel pool and the afternoon at MGM Studios. The weather had been fairly cool up until this day so the boys hadn't gotten a chance to swim yet. (Nor the time to do it). So we let them swim in the morning and then headed to the Contemporary Hotel in Magic Kingdom to Chef Mickey's to celebrate Brooks' birthday with another character breakfast. It was awesome. Much better than the first breakfast. They celebrated Brooks' and Cobe's birthday. Cobe was really into getting all of the characters' autographs so he got quite a few there. Then we left there and went to MGM. That was a cool park. We saw the Indiana Jones show, went on Star Wars, saw several characters to get autographs, went on the Great Movie Ride, Sounds Dangerous- Drew Carey, Muppet Vision 3-D, and ended that night with the show Fantasmic which was a lot of fun. Needless to say, we had a great time at all the parks. The boys were at the perfect ages to go and be able to get on most of the rides and still be so excited for the little rides as well as seeing the characters.
I haven't had a chance to download pics yet, but I'll get those done tonight maybe. Survivor is on so we'll see! :-) Cobe is back at school after missing 5 days total due to sickness then vacation. He went on Thursday of last week but that was it. His teacher let us know that he had a fieldtrip today b/c he had to take his own lunch and we never would have known since he has been out so much. They were going to a children's museum in St. Joe.
Brooks is going back to school today as well. He gets to celebrate his birthday by taking in donut holes. I am sure they will do some sort of little celebration for him. I don't know where time goes- I now am the mom of a 7 year old, 4 year old and 1 year old!!!!!! I never imagined. Time flies so cherish each day with your little ones. As the saying goes, they don't stay little long.
Mom, Dad and Brent drove back to NC yesterday and got home last night. We all had fun together and Nana and Papa sure were generous as usual!!! The boys certainly weren't lacking in souveniers.
We had very smooth flights going to Florida. No delays which is remarkable. On the way home, it was another story. We flew from Orlando to Atlanta just fine. When we got to Atlanta, our flight to Lansing was canceled. They had booked us on another one THE NEXT DAY!!! I was not about to spend a night at the airport or in a hotel in Atlanta. So we rushed around and finally got a stand-by flight to Grand Rapids. Ryan's parents were kind and came and got us in GR. Mary Jo drove the boys and I home and Jim drove Ryan to Lansing to pick up our car. So it could have been much worse. We made it home with 2 of our 3 suitcases and are still waiting on the 3rd one to be delivered. Hopefully it shows up!
Sadie had a great time at the Boeves- she loves them and was well taken care of. She looked at me funny when Lisa dropped her off last night. She went to bed before Ryan had gotten home from Lansing so he woke her up to see her when he got home and she was scared. She cuddled with me quite a bit this morning and was so excited to be back home today. The boys were estactic to see her and she was to see them as well. Ryan is at work today so he'll have to re-bond with his dolly tonight. :-) He sure did miss her!
Speaking of, she is crying in her crib and ready to get up and play so I'm off to get her. Have a great day- check back later in the next day or so and I'll try to have pics posted.

Signing off for a week
This will be the last post for a week- we leave tomorrow for Disney so I'll post pics of our trip when we return. Everyone is still sick, so I hope we can salvage a decent vacation anyway. Cobe's has turned into a cold, Brooks threw up again last night, Sadie still has the runs, Ryan is better but weak. I am fine at least.
I hope everyone had a Happy Valentine's Day. We did. We were all home together so that was nice. Ryan gave me a BEAUTIFUL necklace- it is a fresh water black pearl and silver necklace. It is very unlike anything I have, but will go with so much. He said there is something else coming in the mail as well that hasn't arrived, so I still have another surprise! Yay! I gave him a cowboy Sayiwont shirt, a Sayiwont track jacket, a case of Red Bull, and a fifth of Vodka for a sweet elixer. He was thrilled with all of them. Cobe got some sweatpants, matchbox cars, candy and a Pirates of the Carribean toy. Brooks got a Cars shirt, matchbox cars, candy, and a Pirates of the Carribean toy as well. Sis got a new blankie, a princess lunchbox, and some My Little Pony fruitsnacks. We just stayed home for dinner and then Cobe and I went to Wednesday church where he is making a derby car for the big race on March 21. The race starts at 5:30 that night for anyone who wants to come watch his car whip up on the other ones. :-) He of course designed a Dale Jr. car.
Tonight the 2nd episode of the new season of Survivor comes on- looking forward to it! The boys and I will hunker down and watch it. I have packed everyone except for snacks for the plane and the boys' GameBoys, crafts and other stuff for the plane. Sis is going to Lisa Boeve's for the whole time- we will certainly miss her, but will most likely enjoy the trip more and be able to do more with the boys. My mom and dad left today driving to Disney to meet us. They were stopping in Hilton Head today to visit friends and to break up the trip.
Brooksie will celebrate his birthday while we are in Disney World. He will be 4 years old on the 21st! He has brought us 4 years of pure joy! We are going to celebrate his birthday with a character breakfast with Mickey and the gang. He doesn't know that part of the trip yet.
Hope everyone has a great, HEALTHY week- I am so hoping we come home well and remain that way for a long, long time!!! Please keep us in your prayers- health and safe travel (as well as Mom and Dad and Brent too!)

Another one down...
Now Ryan has the stomach virus that the others have had. He woke up about 4 a.m. with it. He had to call in sick again today but has been in bed so I haven't really seen him much. The kids are feeling much better- not completely well, but in much better spirits. Only 3 more sleeps until Disney so I better not get it at this point. My mom actually has it as well, so I really hope my dad stays well. They are meeting us in Florida. Brent is going to meet us there as well for part of the week so we are all looking forward to being together. Hopefully all well! :-)

Still fighting the flu
Ryan stayed home with the sick kids today. He felt fine, but it was hard for me to take today off. I have taken tomorrow off. Cobe started throwing up around 10:30 last night and he and Brooks didn't stop all night. I felt so bad for them. Brooks and Sadie seem to feel okay, but still have the virus. Cobe feels miserable b/c he has a fever as well that is really keeping him down. Ryan's mom called last night from Mexico and said she had it Saturday. She said she felt better after one day, but Sadie threw up again as recent as this morning. So I can't tell what the course of the sickness will be. We still have 3 more days before it needs to be totally out of here. Keep your fingers crossed. :-)

2 more bite the dust
The day started off normal enough. Ryan stayed home with Sadie and we went to Sunday School because I had to teach. We skipped church because Cobe said he wasn't feeling the greatest. I ran to Old Navy and Meijer's, and Cobe called while I was gone and said he had a headache. Ryan gave him Motrin- he definitely had a fever. He hasn't thrown up...yet. Brooks on the other hand fell asleep, and when he woke up- wham- projectile vomited. He has thrown up several times and has diarrhea. The fun has just begun I am afraid. Ryan slept all afternoon, and he has a gut-ache as he calls it. He took off work tomorrow to take care of the sickies. I will take Tuesday off if all are still sick. How long does this wonderful virus last Amanda???? On the bright side, at least everyone has it at once and we have 4 days to get over it before heading to Disneyworld. Please say prayers that it is short-lived and that I don't get it so I can take care of everyone else.
On a better note, I got some great deals for the boys at Old Navy. All their kid stuff was 25% off. Cobe is funny about his shorts, and he actually likes them to fit like capri pants, so I got him four pair of shorts that he was very impressed with. Mom done good! I got him 4 shorts and 2 pair of shoes. Brooks got 3 shirts, 1 pair of shorts and 2 pair of shoes. Sis got a pair of shorts and a shirt. The boys' shoes have to be exchanged b/c they were too big. Hopefully I can run there tomorrow since Ryan will be home. It really takes both of us to take care of them, so I don't know if it would be smart to leave or not. He cleans the cushions, carpet, etc. while I clean the kid. :-) Not my greatest strength- he is a much better nurse! Sadie hasn't thrown up since yesterday but still has diarrhea. She has an appetite which is frustrating because she cries to eat and drink, but then has diarrhea. I hope since she has an appetite it means she is almost well. I'm off to the gas station to grab some Sprite. I have a feeling we'll be needing some. :-)

Rugrats in the Pool
Change in plans
Well, our weekend plans have changed a bit. We did have fun watching our Disney World DVD- the boys are pumped, and so are Ryan and I. It was neat to see all the options of rides, shows, forms of entertainment, etc. so we will know what to expect. Cobe lost his soccer game this morning 6-4. I had decided to go to his game because he really wanted me and Ryan there, but when I went in to wake up Sadie, she had thrown up during the night. She has thrown up several times this morning as well. Thank goodness it hasn't been a ton. I disinfected her bedding, washed 3 loads of sheets, blankets, pjs, etc. and had to disinfect the couch that she hit once, but I made it to the trash can with her the last two times. She has been sleeping since about 9:45 and it is now about 12:10, so she must have the horrendous stomach virus going around. Better now and get it over with before we leave on our trip. I just hope it bypasses the rest of us. Soooooo, we obviously aren't going to the Boeves anymore tonight. Instead as a consolation, Lisa and I are going to take the kids swimming this afternoon and Ryan will stay with Sadie. They are excited about going to the pool- even if it is snowing. :-) Say prayers that Sadie is well soon and that none of us get it. Have a good rest of the weekend!

The weekend
Enjoyed the first night of Survivor- seems like a diverse group with no one getting on my nerves yet. Cobe and Brooks watched it and got hooked already. They asked if it was coming on tonight. Cobe like Yau-man's teeth!
We are having a quiet night at home. We are going to watch our Disney DVD that my parents gave us for Christmas so we can see all the sights we will see when we get there in 7 sleeps! We have to wait for Sadie to go to bed so she doesn't create havoc while we are watching it. Tomorrow morning Cobe has a soccer game at 9:00. Ryan is taking the boys after that to "work-out" which translates as Ryan working out, and the boys running around the high school with Turner's kids. We are going to the Boeves for dinner to grill out hamburgers tomorrow night. Cobe and Aliyah haven't played in ages with them both being in school, so they are looking forward to it. And I am looking forward to good grub- if you have never tried the brand "Bubba" burgers- you don't know what you are missing. There is no better burger in existence. My mom and dad always grill that kind at the lake, and they are yummy. They are expensive, but well worth the cash. They were on sale not too long ago at Meijer's so Lisa and I got some. It is my week to teach Sunday School this week so I need to work on my lesson pretty soon. I already developed the craft which is the most time consuming part of the lesson. Well, I'm off to get Sadie to bed and watch Mickey Mouse.

Survivor starts a new season...
I am so excited that Survivor starts again tonight. It is my favorite TV show of all time. I have to admit I don't really like the first few because you don't know the people well enough to care who gets voted off, but after a few weeks, I can't miss it! Several of my friends are HUGE fans as well, so we will enjoy chatting about the new season. Cobe watched it with me last season and became addicted himself, so I'll let him stay up again with me tonight for the kick-off. Off to help Cobe with his homework- we have a quiet house b/c Brooks is sleeping and Sadie was still napping at Mary Jo's so she stayed there to finish her nap. Jim is going to run her home later. It is so nice to have great in-laws!!!!! They are going to Mexico tomorrow for 12 days so we'll miss 'em. We leave for Disney in 8 sleeps (as the kids say). Can't wait!

My mom and dad
Back to school
We went back to school today. It was nice to be back in a routine. We had our house shown this morning, and the realtor said it went well. I hope it pans out- I'm ready to start building our new one, especially before summer so we could be near the pool! I look forward to summer after this weather. Disney World is in 9 days- can't wait!!!!! The boys are getting so excited. So am I! I'll have to figure out how to post pics on this site so I can share our vacation. Gotta go get dinner ready.

Home Again
We had another snow day today which was a nice bonus. I wasn't counting on one at all, and they didn't announce it until this morning so we went to bed not knowing. Ryan and I just ran a quick errand and the roads are pretty slippery still, but they have definitely been worse when we have had school. I'll take what we can get though. I am assuming we'll go back tomorrow because no new snow has fallen. Cobe's tooth ended up getting knocked out last night while he was wrestling with his friend so I didn't have to pull it. He can eat again, so he is happier today. Ryan and I are getting ready to start cleaning up a bit. We have a house showing in the morning. I am sure it won't pan out, but at least it is some activity. Off to clean!

Another quiet day
We are having another quiet day at home. Ryan picked up a friend of Cobe's this morning and brought him here so Cobe wouldn't be bored. They have been playing GameBoys, legos and are now watching a movie. Brooks has been hanging out with them. Ryan had SWAT training so he has been gone most of the day. My bible study leader called and said that it was canceled tonight which surprised me because they never have canceled once in the three years I have been going, even when the weather seems questionable. So, once again today, I won't leave the house. I'm not complaining. I just finished an excellent novel by Karen Kingsbury called Even Now. It was a tear-jerker and quite predictable, but even so, I couldn't put it down. I started it yesterday and knew I had to finish it. We are having trauma 101 with a loose tooth of Cobe's. He won't eat or drink anything because it is so loose. He is scared he will swallow it. But will he let me pull it? Of course not! It is hanging by a thread and would take half a second, but he won't let me get near it. I'll have to pull it tonight after he goes to sleep if it hangs on that long. Well, I am off to find another novel to begin. Can't tell yet if they will cancel school tomorrow. No new snow has fallen so I doubt it. But you never know... there is always hope with the wind chill factor!

Just getting started...
This is my first post of many yet to come. We ended up having a great weekend despite the blizzard. We went to a great restaurant, Boatwerks, in Holland on the waterfront Friday night. It was great food, great friends and a great atmosphere. Ryan had to work Saturday and we were paying a babysitter, so we just had dinner, hung out with our friends for awhile and headed home. The weather was bitterly cold, but not unbearable yet... Then we had a wedding Saturday. I thought we would easily hit something on the way there. The wedding was out towards the lake, and it was a COMPLETE white-out on the way there. I was a nervous wreck. It is nice to have a husband who is such a great driver though. He never gets uptight no matter what the road conditions. He had been driving in a white police car all day in the white-out and really thought at times he could have been easily hit and injured, so once he was behind the wheel of his 4 wheel drive Dodge Ram, he felt much more confident in the weather conditions. Anyway, the wedding service was nice and then we headed to Grand Haven Golf Club ( still in treacherous driving conditions). It was a great night. The food was awesome, good company and good music. Once we got there, I was so glad we went. It was much better than sitting home bored in the blizzard. I haven't hung out much with Ryan's cop friends, but they were so much fun. We were supposed to head to Hamilton today for a super bowl party, but the hosts called and canceled it- said the roads were even worse in Hamilton, so we better stay put. Cobe went to a friend's house and the other two kids slept a lot, so I had a nice relaxing day. And the best news yet... NO SCHOOL tomorrow!! Awesome! I thought there were several days this past week that we should have had snow days and didn't, so I was glad to finally catch a break. I am sure cabin fever will hit soon, but until it does, we will enjoy the beautiful snow. We are going to Disney soon. We were all excited anyway, but leaving these below zero tempatures will be icing on the cake! Hope you all are keeping warm and cozy.
